I wrote earlier about the world’s top web domains; here’s a list, via Nielson, of the web’s top advertisers for April, 2006. My takeaways:
- Telecom (Vonage and Verizon) and trading (Etrade and Scottrade) dominate the list.
- Vonage has a huge advertising online budget! ~$38M for April implies a ~$450M+ run rate. According to their S-1 (see an earlier post here), their marketing expenses for the 9 months ending 9/30/2005 were $176M. Looks like they’ve increased their marketing spend.
- Interesting to see Apollo Group so high in the rankings–they’re an Arizona-based for-profit provider of higher education services to adults.
- CPMs vary significantly by advertiser–Vonage pays about $2.25 for 1000 impressions, while LowerMyBills pays $5.27. GUS, a UK-based retailer (which also owns Experian, the credit checking agency), pays the least at $1.66 per 1000 impressions.

I am looking for web advertising for my website and for the new web blog that I plan to set up soon. Additionally I am seeking tax-deductible sponsorship (advertising) for my television show, “The Changing Paradigm” which airs a minimum of five times a week in Aspen, Colorado.
