Due to frustration with this site’s performance–it sometimes takes too long to load–I’ve decided to switch web hosts. That in mind, aventureforth.com (and email) may be flaky for the next day or so. Things should be back by Monday, hopefully faster than before.

Thanks, Hooman. The main reason I’m switching is because the site sometimes takes 30+ seconds to load (even after removing GA and other external apps and after tuning my MySQL db), but at other times takes less than 5. The variance seems to be tied (mainly) to the web host.
I’ll probably do an update post on this once I get things sorted out…
makes a big performance difference. Recommended. Incidentally, wp-cache can also help your site stay up if you are lucky enough to experience the Digg or Slashdot effect. Dan, another performance consideration is if you are using services like Google Analytics. The slow down associated with GA is significant. Best of luck w/the move.
